“Procession Against Hatred” will be held on October 31. This is the biggest street event in Russia dedicated to countering xenophobia. The slogans of the march: “Stop Xenophobia!” and “Russia Without Racism”.
Action will be held for the sixth time, it is held in memory of the scientist-fascist Nikolai Girenko, who was killed in St. Petersburg June 19, 2004 in his apartment. Girenko was one of the leading experts on racism and nationalism, and advised law enforcement authorities in prosecuting criminal cases.
Russia Social Democratic Youth Union is a co-organizer of the march, along with other human rights organizations and democratic movements. Each year the march gathers from 500 to 1200 participants.
Traditionally, the route of the procession is the same – from the metro station “Sports” to the area of Sakharov. The meeting – from Sports Palace “Yubileyniy” (subway station “Sportivnaya”) at OO-30 p.m., the beginning of the procession at 01-00 p.m. The meeting begins – at 02-00 p.m.
